hey, tx for showing this close up. i have heard so much about chicken rice balls, but never seen them before. These ones look red, whilst some pics i seen,(in a malacca blog)looks white. why is that? and the taste, is it the same as any rice? it looks very soft rice and mashed up. does not look like rice at all.
Anthony, actually its not red, its yellowish. Its what we chinese say "Oil Rice". It could be the light that is playing the trick, as we sat on a table below the "yellow" light. The taste is ok but my wife does not like it at all (she is not malaysian) and she prefers the normal rice. Yeap its soft rice and then they will make it into a ball shape. The old day I ate before which is in the size of a tennis ball..
Yeah, the size is dwindling all the time but it is still possible to get rather good ones in taste ad size from the non touristy area.
Anyway, I am not a big fan of that chicken rice though
mrbherng, I guess so as the one that I went to is right at jonker street...but the chicken taste not bad.....
Ahh... Malacca's famous chicken rice balls :) It has a very distinguished aroma. Lovely!
Warmest regards
